The European Digital Women Diversity Charter (DiversIT Charter) is one of the main initiatives launched by CEPIS (Council of European Professional Informatics Societies), that aims to reduce gender disparity in IT and tech roles. The charter is a roadmap built in three progressive stages, designed to increase activity and visibility on the theme of Women in Technology for an organisation or association.

The initiative provides a certification which moves through three levels of attainment: Bronze, Silver and Gold. Any IT Association, company, educational establishment or other organisation is encouraged to apply and to signup to the charter and undertake its stages. Applicants are asked to showcase their initiatives and policies for increasing gender diversity in IT roles. The three levels of activity aim to gradually increase awareness, support and visibility for Women in IT whilst offering a framework of ideas for engagement.

By joining the initiative, applicants will gain public recognition of their commitment to increase gender diversity in ICT professions, as well as receiving continuous guidance and concrete recommendations on how to build support for women working in technology roles.

Also, one of the main advantages behind the initiative is that it goes along with the creation of a community of good practices, in which each association can share experiences, best practices and solutions on the issues faced by the charter. In this way companies and associations can access a database of best practices where to get further inspiration to work towards better gender equality in their technical teams.
