The Finnish Mimmit koodaa – programme (or ‘Women code’) aims to improve the diversity of the talent pool in the Finnish software industry. Another goal of the organisation is to demystify the subject of coding and promote women’s professional development in this area. The programme offers free coding workshops for women with an interest in coding, but no experience with programming or software.

Mimmit koodaa is powered by the Finnish Software and E-business Association and its member companies, who launch efforts to provide the future generation in Finland with equal opportunities when it comes to studying and working in the information technology (IT) field, with a focus on the software industry. Mimmit koodaa today brings together more than 6000 women and 50+ companies from various industry sectors. The programme so far has offered around 2,000 workshop places and organises regular workshops, challenges, exercises and training and upskilling courses.
